These Dreams

I've been having some weird dreams lately - last night I dreamed that someone cut my hair while I wasn't looking, so I ended up having this slightly lopsided long bob that I was trying to come to terms with.  So strange.  I think it may be because my sleep schedule  has been a little whack - we've been going to bed far too late, trying to still get up early but snoozing a bunch of times, and then eventually waking up still tired, then repeating the cycle every weekday and sleeping in a lot on the weekend.  Not good.  What's your normal weekday schedule like?  I need some motivation to get to bed at 10 during the week!

Anyway, here's an outfit I wore to work last week.

I'm Wearing
J. Crew purple cardi
Michael Kors rose gold watch
Banana Republic Factory lace stripe cami (also worn here - next time I'll pair with something other than black pants, I swear... just seems like a natural match I guess)
Gap black pants
Steve Madden via Marshall's nude flats

I really love this top, and I even actually really like it with black work pants, which I usually find insufferably boring.  I think the top is sort of striking when set off against black - it's a minimal palette at its best.  I do think I could have done better with the shoes.  I mean, nude flats always go with everything, sure, but they seem to be dragging down the bottom of my outfit here.  What shoes would you have worn with a look like this?

    1. Thank you so much Molly! Haha really? I go back and forth - sometimes I don't dream at all and then sometimes I go through phases where every dream is ridiculous!

    1. Thanks Yi-chia! Good call, I think stress definitely messes with a lot of things, probably dreams too!

  4. Love this top so much!!!! And what is it with black slacks?! I think they are so classic but they are just so blah in the morning when I'm selecting outfits - so I hardly ever grab them!

I'm a huge dreamer - I have dreams almost every night that wake me up, but I promptly forget most of them. The ones I remember are typically VERY odd.

As for waking up every day, I read a study a few years ago that talked about the snooze button actually causing more sleepy days with low energy. I vowed to stop using it, and now stand up right away and get my day started - almost a jolted wake-up. For a while it sucked, but now that is my M-F and my weekends are full of sleeping in and lounging...it is pretty good balance. This isn't the article I read, but it is still interesting and covers the same points: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/19/sleep-better-snooze-button_n_1348718.html

    1. Thanks Bri! Ugh, right??? I'm growing an unnatural hatred for black pants, it's sad! Maybe if I wore them less I would appreciate them more...

Haha it sounds like you're used to your crazy dreams then at least? :)

Okay I just watched that article, and that plus your comment = I am definitely going to try to stop snoozing. Now that you mention the "jolt out of bed" type wakeup, I seem to remember being that way back in high school (never used the snooze) and I didn't have nearly as much trouble get out of bed as I've been having lately. You've inspired me - I will jump out of bed asap tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes (just have to make sure I'm up earlier than my husband or his snoozing will defeat the purpose)!

  7. LEOPARD!! :) My goal is to try to have something just a little "off" or "daring" about my outfit...I totally would have gone leopard with the shoes...and maybe a scarf?

Strange dream for sure...I actually had a dream last week my hair was really tangled and it took forever to comb out! I actually googled it and it looks like this is somewhat related to yours too?

I don't take those things too seriously, but it does kinda make sense for me and my recent break-up...interesting :)

    1. Ahh yes, I totally could have done leopard! I think I've been subconsciously trying to wear other shoes too because I've been wearing my leopard pair to death (not that there's a problem with that, haha).

OMG so interesting about the dream dictionary! Mine says " you may be reshaping your thinking or ambitions and eliminating unwanted thoughts/habits" which is so true around this time of year for me - I always get thoughtful about what I'm doing around my birthday. Great share, thanks Tracy! :)

  9. Super cutesy Laura! I hate when dreams seem so real and you wake up not realizing if it really happened or not.
