Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow?

I'm not freaking out about my birthday (yet... we'll see what happens tomorrow), but it has got me thinking about changes, as it usually does.  The first thing that always comes to mind for me is my hair, even though I hardly ever change it anymore.  When I was younger, I used to change my hair up all the time - long, short, layers, bangs, colors (blonde, brown, red, anything).  Since I've gotten older and had longer hair, I've stuck pretty close to what you see me with now - longish, blondish.  I like it, but every once in awhile I get an itch to do something a little different, and my 30th birthday feels like a good time to make a change.

Here are a few similar cuts I've been eyeing lately.

Pretty much obsessed with her hair!

I'm still undecided though... every time I think about actually calling to make an appointment, all of a sudden I feel myself saying "no, no, no, I like my long hair!"  And the truth is that I do, but I also don't want to get attached to only ever having long hair and becoming afraid to cut it.  I also have a lot of split ends/breakage because I used to color my hair more than I do now (unintentional ombre...), so I could stand to get a cut anyway.  Not that I follow "hair trends" if there even is such a thing, but I also read that this season is all about the midlength hair (thanks InStyle Makeover!).  What do you guys think - should I go for it?  Do you get the urge to freshen up your look at certain milestones or seasons?

  1. My hair take just SO long to grow out I can't seem to cut it...so I dye it, cut bangs, etc. :) I am going darker either tonight or tomorrow, so I'm excited!

Your hair looks so great in those buns you do...if you cut it, you might not be able to do that. Just saying :)

    1. Aww, true about the buns... I think I might do a compromise and go a little shorter but not a lot. Such a hard decision! :) I hope your color turns out great too!

  2. I think you should do it!! It might open up a whole new world of easy work hairstyles - sock buns, different height pony tails, simple twists and braids...the one key is keeping it below your shoulders so that you aren't limited too much by length. With hair, it'll always grow back, so why not try? :)

    1. So true Bri, I think just a little shorter might be easier to work with, and as long as I keep most of the length it should be okay - good call, it does always grow back! :)

  5. I think you should go for it! The cuts you are showing there aren't really that much shorter that what you have. It's good to change things up here and there.

    1. That's true Lisa, they're not a huge change in length so I think that's why I like them! :)

  7. I sometimes I regret cutting my hair as short as it is. I'm anxiously waiting for the next couple of inches to come in so it's a length it'll feel good at. You'll look great in whatever you decide though :)

    1. Ahh, my voice of reason - I definitely don't want to end up too short because I always hate it when my hair is shorter than I want! I'm thinking of going for Olivia's style but just a bit longer (safety net...). And aw, you're too nice :) I love your hair where it's at right now (esp those fabulous bangs!) but I totally know what you mean about just needing a few more inches of length.

  8. I love these looks! I've never dyed my hair, but for awhile was drawn to some of the shades of red that Emma Stone has pulled off. Maybe someday! :) I hope you have a wonderful birthday and don't stress about that number! :)
