Black and White and Blue All Over

I had to snap these pics quickly before I left for work today, which means two things: (1) I had to take them with my iPhone and had no time to edit, so they're teeny tiny, sorry, and (2) I'm actually wearing this right now!  Hooray for timely posts!  But boo for not having anything prepared ahead of time.  What do you guys do, if you have blogs - do you take a bunch of outfit photos at once (on the weekend maybe), post as you wear something daily, or something else?  I'd love to hear your editorial calendar/post planning strategies!

I'm Wearing
Gap white v-neck tee (really old)
"J. Crew" bubble necklace (via Ebay)
The Limited cobalt pencil skirt
Michael Kors rose gold watch
Talbots black tuxedo blazer
White House Black Market snow leopard pumps (really old)

I've worn every single thing in this outfit on the blog before (tuxedo blazer here, white bubble necklace here and here, snow leopard pumps here, and cobalt pencil skirt here).  Shopping your closet is fun sometimes!  Plus, all of the new stuff I have is really more fall and winter weather appropriate, so I can't really wear it right now given that it's in the 70s today.  Back down to 30s (!) tomorrow though, so I'm sure outfits with many layers and tights will be on the agenda for next week.

  2. I love this outfit! And I love your hair like this! I take my pictures by myself each morning so I typically post what I am wearing that day. I do have to take mine in my house (my twelve month old doesnt really like to participate for photo sessions so I have to take them however he allows) so my pictures have my front door in the background along with other things which is not ideal and hopefully I can fix this later on. Being a busy working mom it makes it hard to find time to do photo sessions. I have been thinking about doing all my photos on one weekend day to get better pictures for everyone! By the way - I really love your blog - you are one of the reasons I started my own blog!

    1. Aw thank you so much Misty! And wow, that's seriously the best compliment ever, I love hearing that I inspired someone to try blogging too! :) Thank you so so much! I totally understand the timing issues with outfit posts - I'm not even a mom and I find it hard to fit in outfit photos during the day, so I'm so inspired by you (and haha, too bad the 12 mo. old doesn't want to model in your shots, they would be the cutest outfit pics ever!) I tried doing all of my outfits on a weekend once or twice, and honestly I really don't like it; for some reason it feels like such a huge time-suck for me, I'd rather just wear an outfit once, take a photo, and move on (as opposed to putting the entire outfit on a second time), for some reason. But definitely different things work for different people, so it might work for you!

  3. Ah! I bought a few items recently but have yet to wear them because I'm on a mission to work with what I have! I love cobalt, white, and black together!

    1. Thanks Kate! Working with what we have is definitely a great lesson (challenge?) haha - it's such a great way to remember what amazing things we already have in our closets!

  4. You look so pretty today again! Your hair looks great like that - mine has no body at all to it so it just looks flat and boring all the time :(

as far as posting, Ive only been blogging in summer and fall, so I used to take my pictures before work when there was light, and post them when i got home. Now its dark when I leave but still light when I get home, so I take them after work and post after that. i have no idea what I"m going to do once it is dark before and after work :(

    1. Awww, thanks Fran! I have absolutely no control over my hair - sometimes it turns out cute and curly (usually when it's really humid) and sometimes it's weirdly dented and flat. I just try to go with it. And ps, I tried to respond to your other comment from my last post (re: lipstick) but your comment seems to have disappeared now... no idea what happened there, but I was going to say that it's funny you said I'm a lipstick person bc I usually feel really self-conscious when I wear lipstick and don't consider myself a lipstick person at all! I'm trying it out more often because I like it on other people, but I definitely have to work on not feeing weird and obvious.

Ughh yeah, I'm not looking forward to figuring out what to do during the winter for pics again - I take mine daily too, and it is really tough when it's dark out all the time. I started blogging last January but didn't really step it up with outfit pics until the spring, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do either :(

  5. I got to the picture of your shoes and loved them so much I almost gasped out loud! :)

I like to blog about an outfit the day I wear it. I feel like what I decide to wear can be so easily affected by my mood that day, so I think I feel better if I'm in the same mindset when I talk about it. Is that weird?! haha

    1. Aww, thanks Jess! I love these shoes too! They're pretty old (3+ years?) and they were one of those items that I loved so much that I paid nearly full price because I couldn't bear the thought of them selling out before I could get them. Sometime I'd like to go through my closet and make a list of those kinds of items I love so much - I've heard it's a way to really define/put a name to your style :)

Not weird at all, I totally understand the mood you have when you wear something! That's why sometimes I post outfits and I'm like "ehh, not feeling it anymore" because my mind has moved onto something else since I wore it (even if it was just a few days prior!)

  6. First off - love the outfit.
Second - those shoes are so fabulous
And finally - I take outfit photos daily and then sit down and edit them, write and schedule my posts on Sunday evening. Everything is ready to go for the week and I can always edit a post to add more info when I have the chance. It works well for me. But my outfits are about a week old by the time my posts go live. :)

    1. Thank you so much CC! Your schedule is really a great way of doing it, that's what I always aspire to but I seem to get so far behind (like, I'll miss a day of outfit photos during the week, so Sunday I end up with not enough for the week or something). I'm always trying to make that happen though, it sounds like a sane, timely way to go about it :)

  7. There are so many things I love about this outfit. The cobalt skirt is perfection, and I love the white bubble necklace over a white shirt. It just makes a subtle statement!
As far as blog scheduling, I try to take pictures every day, but then my posts are usually 2-3 days after I actually wore something. Sometimes I think I should have a better plan in place, but I like writing blog posts most days, instead of in big batches on the weekends.

    1. Thank you so much Andi! :) I kind of do what you do as far as scheduling posts - I try to take pics daily (though I don't always either because of timing, or because I didn't love my outfit, or whatever), and then usually post them a few days later. I think writing in batches on the weekend is a great way to do it actually, and I'm trying to move towards doing that so I'm not spending so much time doing that on weeknights when time is already so limited!
