Fall Wish List Part 1

First things first - I am insanely far behind on reading comments, reading/commenting on blogs, and otherwise being organized about my blogging life, so I really apologize!  Hopefully I will have some free time this week to get caught up, but between work being crazy last week, the holiday weekend and being out of town, and getting straight back into work today, it's been hard to keep up!

Last month I was on a shopping ban, which I was mostly successful at but happily spent $8.50 on a few really good bargains.  I've decided for September that I will be back on shopping (can't resist the fall goods...), but I'm setting my budget at $150.  Since I spent $8.50 more than I intended to in August, I'm taking it out of this month's budget, which means I'm down to $141.50 to spend.  That's a limited amount of money, and because I'm trying to focus on quality over quantity, I've been putting together a fall wishlist of what items I really want to add to my closet this season instead of just acquiring random impulse buys.  Here's what I've got so far that I'm really lusting over.

My Fall Wishlist

1.  Navy blazer
J. Crew
Franishh and I are on a similar obsessive hunt for a great navy blazer, and she has done some awesome research to see whether a few of the available options are worth it (check it out here!)  I'm currently considering these 4, although I'll be honest and say that I really want a classic style, and only J. Crew's is fitting the bill so far.  I'm planning to head to J. Crew Factory sometime this month to see if they have a cheaper version there!

2.  Animal sweater

Delia's
J. Crew
Urban Outfitters

When Old Navy's version of last year's J. Crew heart sweater came out, I almost snapped it up right away.  But then I stopped and thought about it - I already made my own version of the asymmetric heart sweater (such an easy DIY), and I don't think I need two heart sweaters. I decided to revise this and add another type of funky sweater to my list - animal sweaters!  It totally brings back memories of 3rd grade, but I think they can be really fun and still "grown up" if you wear them with the right outfit.

3.  Loafers

Gap
Target
Zara

I did recently get a pair of classic black Bass leather loafers, but I really want a pair of casual, colorful smoking loafers this fall!  I can't decide which of these I like the best... Bri's also on a hunt for loafers this fall - check out some of the great finds she came up with for her fall wish list here!

4.  New Toms

Blue Stripe
Plum
Orange
Green

I recently gave away one of my two pairs of Toms because they were too small and any amount of stretching they were getting from wearing them was not helping them loosen up enough.  I still have one pair, but they're the black sequined ones, and I would really like to have another more casual pair.  I'm really loving all of these colorful ones!  Hmm, decisions decisions!

There are still a bunch more items I'm hoping to add to my closet this fall, but I don't want to spoil all the fun at once, so stay tuned for parts 2 and 3!  What's on your wish list this month???

Also linking up with Molly for YOLO Monday (even though it's Tuesday - thanks for giving us slackers a break and letting me participate a day late Molly!)

  1. Thanks for the mention about loafers! You're the best!! AND, I definitely saw a navy blazer at the J.Crew Factory store yesterday in Washington, so hopefully your stores have it too!! They didn't have my size, of course, but it was a great blazer!

  5. I got the Target loafers last month and LOVE them!!! I almost went with some ballet flats but glad I went with something outside my comfort zone for sure.

The animal sweaters are cute for sure...would definately need some ideas on the "grown-up" way to style them :)

  10. girl. the blazer = the best purchase I think I've ever made. If you don't find something similar at the factory outlet, I would totally forgo other purchases just for it.

but if not, i love those black/gold flats. and did you see they have some animal sweaters at target? worth checking out!

we need a shopping trip the next time I come down :)

    1. Ah, I'm so jealous that you have it already (and it totally looks fabulous on you!) If I don't find another version at the Factory store this weekend, I think I am going to take the plunge and just splurge on it. Given the amount of times this year I've literally said to myself "gah, I wish I had a navy blazer to wear with X outfit" it would have paid for itself already! And omg no I did NOT know they had animal sweaters at Target - I will be checking those out very, very promptly (read: tonight)! Yes, yes, and yes to a shopping trip the next time you're here (and/or the next time I'm there - my hubby and I come up to Wis at least once or twice every winter for Badgers games! :)
