Thursday Pinspiration

As I mentioned a few days ago in the budget recap, I'm not spending money on clothes, accessories, beauty items, or basically anything that isn't a necessary purchase this month.  I did it in June and I know I can do it again, but I'll be honest with you - it's hard.  Being a blogger and reading other blogs that focus on fashion and clothing makes it really hard.  I needed a dose of inspiration to remember that I literally do not need another thing.  Hopefully some of these resonate with you too whether you're also on a ban or just want to reevaluate the things you're bringing into your home.

Please know that I am not criticizing or making judgments about anyone else's choices.  These quotes and images are just a fresh perspective for me to keep in mind to help me in my current situation.  Are you trying to be more conscious of your spending lately?  What are some tips or inspirational thoughts you use to help you, especially being a part of the blogging community?  I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

  3. I absolutely agree, seeing so many fashion blog each day makes it a real struggle not to buy constantly. I think you goal is a fantastic one! The image you left are definitely a big motivation to enjoy what I have, not what I want. Good luck on the month, it would be great if you could keep up updated on how it is going!

  4. I really, really need to stop spending money. With a honeymoon to Italy in just 3 months, I need to realize that there are plenty of things (clothing in particular) that I just don't NEED. My new goal? Not to buy anything else (not necessary) for the rest of the month. Since it's only the 2nd that would be a pretty big feat for me. Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. Good luck lady... I have done it before, and it is HARD. Especially in this little micro-cosm world of fashion blogging. I bet you are going to come up with some fabulous remixes in your closet this month... and on the other side you will be able to approach shopping again with a clear head

  6. Glad I saw this before I went to the Nordstrom sale tomorrow. My mum always told me to think about my purchases, whether I would still love them in a few months time or just end up gathering dust like a lot of other things. Sometimes in the spur of the moment we lose judgement.

  10. Thanks Colleen! I will definitely update about how it's going, and I hope you'll share in the comments too - I love hearing similar stories, especially from other bloggers since we all know how tough it is to resist when we're constantly bombarded with beautiful things!

  11. Oh wow, that sounds like an amazing honeymoon (and congrats!!!) - that's a perfect reason to cut back now, so you can enjoy the time you have in Italy without feeling guilty! I'm so excited you have a goal of not buying anything unnecessary right now too - I'd love to hear your updates throughout the month! :)

  12. Thanks Jessica! I know, I've done it before too and it is not an easy feat, but I'm trying to stay strong (even though it's only August 3rd... haha). Remixing is definitely the focus this month! :)

  13. You're so right Jenee, it's really easy to get caught up in impulse buys - sometimes we just need to step back and really think about what we need. Great advice from your mom, they always know best, don't they? :)

  14. Haha, share away Heather! I love that Tyler Durden is the minimalist/anti-consumerism hero - I try to keep his badassness in mind when I'm feeling whiny about not getting to buy new stuff!

  15. I hear ya girl! It's tough and I'm so tempted all the time but I could definitely take a dose of your willpower and I have some bills to pay off. Kudos to you & thanks for the reminder!
