Silent in the Morning

Happy Monday!!!!! .  How was your weekend?  I had lunch with the awesome Franziska of Frannish while she was in town which was awesome great (see how dumb I am before coffee? 2 "awesomes"in 3 sentences, yikes).  Here's a little glimpse of what we were eating over at Smallbar:

She's such an awesome and down-to-earth chick; definitely check out her blog if you haven't already!

Anyway, it's a chilly, dreary, rainy morning here and I'm working from home, so the sleepiness is really full-force at the moment.  If it's okay with you, I'm going to keep it pretty quiet over here and just show you some photos of a work outfit I wore and liked last week.  Sometimes it's really weird posting pictures of a sunny day when it's so crappy out currently.  I'm such a phony!

I'm Wearing
J. Crew Factory black & tan striped top - $30ish
J. Crew Factory coral pencil skirt - $50ish
Kate Spade "Ally" aviator sunglasses - $100
Banana Republic link necklace - $35
Michael Kors gold watch - gift
J. Crew Factory bracelets - $15ish each
Nine West loafer pumps - $40ish

Sorry about all the "ish" pricing - I honestly don't remember because most of these were purchased awhile ago (like last fall/winter), so that's my best guess about what I paid.  This would also be why there are no links - pretty much none of these exact things are currently available because they're older.  Also, I wish I could have posted a photo without the sunglasses, but it was so bright that every picture I took without them turned out just... really poorly, we'll leave it at that.

And one final PSA for the day - I'm in the process of removing Disqus, so if comments are wonky today or get deleted, my apologies!  I'm trying to get this figured out as quickly as possible!

Finally, I'm also linking up with Real Girl Glam and  Molly for YOLO Monday.

  3. I was so great to finally meet in real life! I was thinking how dumb it was that we didn't get a picture together - we're the worst bloggers :P

I am loving this entire outfit but ESPECIALLY those shoes. I need to quit my job so I can find another one that allows me to wear amazing shoes like those ones!

P.S. I'm thinking about doing the switch back as well. I don't know how you feel about the "enter what you see here to prove you are real" but I found/read that it's pretty unnecessary for comments!

    1. So nice to meet in real life! And yeah... I don't know why we didn't think of that. Worst bloggers for sure :) And thank you so much re: the outfit/shoes - definitely time for a new job if you can't wear great shoes, haha. Yeah, Disqus... didn't really work out for me, it was constantly messing up, not letting me on the admin site, marking comments as spam, etc. So many issues and there were limited benefits, sadly. I don't think the "enter numbers" thing is that necessary either (mine doesn't have it... does it? I'm so technologically idiotic that it probably does and I don't even know), but I suppose we'll see. AND one last thing - I am addicted to GOMI now, so thank you for that :)

    2. It had the numbers thing when I left my first comment...and I just tried again and it still made me. I think you change it under the settings, comments, moderation set to never. hope that works!

and I told you about GOMI! It's a bit bitchy sometimes but it really does put blogging into perspective.

    3. Ah, thanks for letting me know, I'll try to get it fixed today! Haha, so true that sometimes GOMI is a little overly bitchy, but it definitely puts things into perspective, and a lot of the observations in the forums/comments are so true.

  6. Yea, I can comment now!! :) Hate technical difficulties! LOVE, love the outfit, seriously one of my favorites from you! Attempting to coordinate the same color scheme without buying new clothes. So.tempting. Plus skirts are an unwritten frowned upon "rule" around here...seriously don't know why but NO ONE wears them and when I attempt it once a month I feel uncomfortable in the office!

    1. Yay!!! Ah I hate them too, but they're always screwing everything up ;) Thank you so much! This color combo is great because I think it's pretty easy to pull together using what you already have - black and tan are usually classics that almost everyone has, and coral has been kind of the color of the year, so there's tons of stuff (at every price point!). Omg seriously, no skirts?? That is so strange that something like that is frowned upon!!! It's so weird how standards change - it used to be that pants were the big no no!

    1. Thank you so much Amy! I checked online and there's still the darker color of this necklace available at Banana Republic, but the lighter one is gone - you could always check in store, I did get it pretty recently. Good luck! :)

  9. Such a cute look for work or otherwise! As I was scrolling through your photos at first I could only see the top and was pleasantly surprised that you paired it with a coral skirt. So pretty and great shoes! Thanks for linking up for Real Girl Style!

    1. Thanks so much Jess! Of course not, I would never be mad - I think I pretty much lifted this outfit idea from a J. Crew email earlier this spring anyway, so keep the sharing going! :) Can't wait to see your version!
