Left: accidental snack (wine!), breakfast (PB banana oatmeal), usual snacks
Right: dinner veggies (forgot to photo the real dinner before I scarfed it... actually had crockpot salsa chicken), typical lunch (watermelon, veggies, crackers, tuna on wheat)
You'll also remember that I'm trying to accomplish goal number 12 on my list of 30 things I wanted to accomplish before I turned 30, which was to lose the last 20ish pounds I have hanging around. As of today, I am exactly 21 pounds from where I want to be and there are exactly 10 weeks until my birthday. Let this be the actual starting gun: 10 weeks, 21 pounds. I'll be checking in here every Friday!
Workouts
First week of half marathon training - glad to finally get back into a routine!
Left: where I run
Right: what I run in
Tuesday - Rest (unintentional, but sometimes life happens)
Wednesday - 4 mile run
Thursday - 3 mile speed run - did 5 repeats of 1/4 mile sprints (using that term loosely...)
Friday - I'll be at Lollapalooza for the rest of tonight and Saturday and Sunday, so today is a planned rest day, and then I'll be doing the weekend's workouts in the morning before we head downtown for the shows
Saturday - 4 mile run
Sunday - Strength training or yoga
How about you - what fitness goals are you working on right now? How was your progress this week?

wow, the photos are amazing, and gosh you are so active and sound so fit!

Ummm, you run in flower beds?? :) I'm just curious how you started running? I have recently lost 32 pounds by calorie counting alone (actually 38 but gained 6 back in the last 4 months...) and now I'm getting back into working out just at the gym though. Which.gets.boring. I live in KC, MO and its just as hot (hotter maybe?) then Chi-town so I don't know how you do it!! Anyways, would love to get some tips on running for beginners. I might start by speed walking I guess?
ReplyDeleteI'm a new reading from your J's Everyday post and LOVE your blog! I'm an insurance manager that works in a stiff professional environment and really try to get some personality into my "black suit" office! :)
The wine is my favorite part! That is the one thing I just love. I try to eat healthy (okay I have ice cream every now and then). The one thing that I have been better about is doing crunches. I am trying to build up to what I used to do before I had my baby. It's hard to get back into the swing of things!

get.it.girl. your breakfast looks delicious! I always have the same thing for breakfast - 1 egg/1 egg white cooked in microwave sandwich thing on 100 cal english muffin with turkey and cheese...I eat it at my desk at work haha. As far as running goes, this week I did 4.2 miles on Tuesday....and now have to do 9 miles on Sunday. My training for this half (in 2 weeks! gahhhhh) hasn't exactly been great. I've only been really doing 2 runs a week :S Excited for this new feature!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sooae! :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha oh no, I didn't realize it looked like I was running IN the flower bed! ;) I run by it and then take pretty pictures next to it because sidewalks are boring! And WAY TO GO on losing 32 pounds, that is such an amazing accomplishment - congratulations, you should be so proud of that! And don't even stress about the 6 you gained back - it totally happens, and I'm dealing with the same thing right now! I hate working out at the gym too, so I don't even have a gym membership anymore, I just knew I would never go. And yes, KC is totally hotter than Chi (I have cousins who live there!), so I really feel your pain! I would love to share some tips for beginning runners - I'll give some more in depth info in next Fitness Friday's post (since this comment is getting out of control long!), but one really good thing to try out is the Couch to 5k running program (just google "couch to 5k," it's free and super easy to find). It's a combination run/walk program that progressively increases in difficulty, and you can adjust it based on how you feel (like you can repeat weeks if you weren't able to fully do what the program says for a particular week). I used it to get from not being able to run for 5 minutes into being able to run for about 3 miles/30 minutes at a time. If you want any more specific info in the meantime, I would love to chat via email - I'm at twelvebysixblog at gmail dot com! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha Amy, the wine was my favorite part too! :) I have dessert every single day, so I definitely think you can eat "healthy" even if you have a small treat like ice cream! Ugh I feel you about doing abs - I hate it and skip it all the time :P I need to get better about that too!
ReplyDeleteKira, you definitely can! Baby steps - doing something more active this week than you did last week is a great start!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement Franziska -I'm so glad you're excited about Fitness Fridays too! I also just realized that I didn't even put the ingredients of my breakfast with the picture... d'oh! I'll do that next week for sure. Your breakfast sounds really good! I love that you eat it at work - I wish I could do that, but we don't have a fridge or a microwave (you'd think that a huge corporation could afford that for it's employees...), plus I just get ravenously hungry too early in the day to wait that long, haha. Awesome job on your running so far - honestly, the long runs are the MOST important, so as long as you're sticking it out with those, you should be fine! I like to do a few more in the week because it helps my legs stay loose, but you can definitely get away with less! I know a guy who did the marathon just doing the long 1x week training runs! Wouldn't recommend it, but it can be done ;) And I hope you take/post some pics of your 1/2 in a few weeks, I would LOVE to see them!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thank you!! I actually stumbled upon the couch to 5k last week! :) It's getting cooler here in the evening (like not 100 at 9pm) so I'm starting tonight, wish me luck!! I'm sure I'll have more questions so might email you later. JEALOUS of your weekend BTW!! Looked like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOh yay, I'm glad you found couch to 5k - it's seriously a great starting program! And even better for you that it's starting to cool down, I'm totally with you on hating the hot evening runs. Definitely email me if you have any more questions, I'd love to chat! :) And thanks, hope you had a great weekend too!
