50 Shades of Bluish-Grey

Actually there are only about 2 shades of grey or bluish-grey in this outfit, so I guess my pun isn't really that good.  But for some reason "2 Shades of Bluish-Grey" didn't seem right, although now that I write it out, it seems to rhyme better.  Also, for what it's worth, I really prefer spelling it "gray" apparently, since I typed it that way every single time except in the title and then had to go back and change them all.  In hindsight, it might have been faster to just change the title.

I'm Wearing
Fossil dusty blue button tank - old
Michael Kors rose gold watch - gift
Gap gray striped trousers - old
J. Crew peach suede flats - $30

This top is one of those very rare items that I paid full price for because I loved it so much and wanted it in my wardrobe at (almost) any cost..  I think it was about $50, which is a lot for me for just a tank top/cami style top, but I really lusted after it for a long time before I took the plunge.  I love the dusty blue color, the beautiful wedding-dress-style buttons, and the distinct New Orleans/A Streetcar Named Desire vibe it gives off.  The fabric is nice and thick with a smooth texture too.  Fossil makes sweet clothes - who knew???  Since I was wearing it to work, I paired it with a classic pair of menswear-striped wide-leg trousers and minimal jewelry of just an oversized watch, but kept the feminine feel by using peachy rose colors in the shoes and watch.  I don't always love obvious opposing forces in outfits (but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis...), like flowery dresses and combat boots - they're just too starkly opposite for my taste - but I do really like combining menswear with something very feminine in one outfit, I think they make an office-appropriate outfit so interesting.  And ps, tanks/camis are ok in my office, but you could easily layer a cardi or blazer over an ensemble like this if your office is more conservative.

As usual, linking up with The Pleated Poppy today and for this month's Everybody Everywear monochromatic challenge.

  9. Haha right? I really think there is no difference, they're just different spellings that have both been around for ages. And thanks! :)
