I've had this inspiration photo pinned for awhile (see it here) and didn't think a pair of rusty orangey-coppery pants would be in my immediate future but held on to it for future inspiration anyway. However, I randomly found this pair of J. Crew cafe capris during a 30% off sale awhile back (they're still on sale for only $50!) and decided to grab a pair since I love the cafe capris I already had. The rest of the outfit was simple enough to pull together because they're all classic pieces.
I'm Wearing
Talbots Colorblock Silk Top - $25 (no longer available, but this top is similar and gorgeous!)
J. Crew "Rusty Copper" Classic Cafe Capri - $35 (exact)
J. Crew Mixed Tape Cardigan in navy - $28 (exact)
Nine West Ivory Heels - $30 (really old, but these are similar)
This outfit is so comfortable and perfect for the hot summer months because of the cropped pants and breezy shirt, and the layered cardigan is perfect for offices that turn the air conditioner to arctic levels. I think the entire outfit will transition well into fall too - the rusty orange color is a great fall tone, and I can easily layer a heavier sweater and scarf and swap in boots for the heels. I usually wear jewelry or accessories with my outfits, but this one seemed so simple and chic on its own that I actually enjoyed letting the clothes speak for themselves! One thing I wasn't sure about though - tucked or untucked? The model in the inspiration photo left it untucked, I kept it tucked at work and then tried out untucked later - I can't decide!

Love this! I have some pants that are more on the peach side than the rust side but I'm totally inspired by you to find something like this outfit! I think I tried to get that top but they ran out of it in my size. It looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty! I love those capris, the color is great on you. I think I like it tucked!

I like the shirt both tucked and untucked, but the tucked in is probably my favorite of the two. Love the color of those capris too!

Thanks so much Catherine! I can't wait to see the look you put together with peach pants - peach sounds so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you Yi-chia! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jess! I wasn't sure about them when I ordered them, but I ended up really liking the color - they're definitely different than anything else in my closet! I think I like it tucked better too!
