Miami Vice

I think it's pretty clear that white is my go-to summer color, and for good reason - it goes with everything, it's fresh and light, and it keeps the sun from baking me into a steaming puddle every day on my way to work.  Win-win-win, right?  I've talked about my love for white blazers before and I've even discussed it its home context, the 80s cop sitcom, but I've never actually done the full on Miami Vice look - head to toe white with a bright, neon shirt.  No time like the present, eh?

I have to say though, it was 102 degrees here when I wore this last week, so I had to lose the cardigan, pronto.  I was hot and sweating after about 5 minutes of taking pictures outside.  I don't know how those guys did it - chasing bad guys in the humidity and heat, all while wearing blazers is pretty impressive!

I'm Wearing
J. Crew mixed-tape cardigan - $28 (exact)
Gap tudor pocket tank - $9 (exact in different colors)
Free People puka shell necklace (remember these???) - $12, old (similar)
J. Crew patent belt in neon peach - $9 (similar)
J. Crew cafe capris - $35 (exact)
Nine West wedges - $40, old (similar)

I decided to go with a white cardigan instead of a blazer and wedges instead of boat shoes to avoid a complete Don Johnson impersonation.  I also managed to avoid spilling anything on myself all day, which is quite a feat!  What do you think - would you wear a full white suit with bright colored accents?

And one last thing - linking up with The Pleated Poppy today, as usual!

I'd totally wear it. I love how the bright tank pops with all of the white.

  3. Yay for not spilling anything on yourself! I love white for summer and I was JUST thinking that I haven't worn my white jeans in awhile (it's been too hot). Love your outfit with the bright accents!

  12. Cool! Really like how you broke up the white with all the pops of color. Sometimes I'm scared of white. LOL Maybe I'll give something like this a try. Cute nails, btw!

  16. Thanks so much Jenny! I totally agree, just wearing white makes you feel a little more crisp/quenched even when it's gross and humid outside! :)

  17. Thanks Rachel! I know, I really wish I could find something close enough to list as a good alternative! I searched ebay (for "Nine West Braxton") and they have the ivory and red/orange ones listed, but I can't seem to find the green. I'll definitely mention it if I find them somewhere (or a good alternative) though!

  18. Thanks Monica! Haha, I know, white can be really scary - I just stow a Shout Wipe in my bag, take a deep breath, and cross my fingers! The first time I wore these white pants, I actually spilled coffee on my leg - tragic! Thankfully it washed out :)

  19. Thanks Lindsay! Ahh, I know, I so wish I had a blog back when I bought these last year or that there was something suitable to recommend instead! I am keeping my eyes peeled though, I'll update if I find anything good/similar!

  22. Hey girl, I'm a huge fan of this outfit! I may try to replicate it myself before the summer ends. Although I've been known to be a little klutzy so I'll have to be extra careful and only consume clear liquids that day. Ha!

    Looking great :)
