Correction: Happy July 6th!

So... I mixed up my days a little bit yesterday - oops!  I guess I wasn't lying when I said the day after a holiday was a let down - I couldn't even pay attention to the correct date!  Anyway, happy July 6th today is what I meant :)

Here's a summery little outfit I wore a few weeks back.

I'm Wearing
The Limited coral floral cardi - old
Banana Republic Factory blue floral silk sleeveless blouse - really old
J. Crew Factory white iridescent belt - old
J. Crew Factory gray bell skirt - old
Guess silver boyfriend watch - gift
J. Crew Factory glitter cap-toe flats - $20, old

Thanks to my shopping ban of the last month, every item I'm wearing in this outfit is old - most of them are over 6 months old and a few are even more than a year.  Success!  It's kind of exciting to pull out really old items from my closet and mix them together in new ways!  I won't lie and say that it wasn't nice to be able to take advantage of a few holiday sales this week, but it's just as nice to rediscover things in my own closet that I'd forgotten about, like this blouse that I bought to take with me on my honeymoon in Greece over 3 years ago.  It's like going shopping for free!  What's your favorite closet rediscovery lately?

  3. I love this whole outfit! So summery! I think my favorite rediscovery was my denim vest I recently wore with a pair of colored denim. I've had that thing for probably 4 or 5 years and hardly wore it. I can't wait to wear it more now...I'm thinking about pairing it with a maxi dress next!

  4. What a cute outfit! I absolutely love the colour of that sweater. Perfect peach :) It's great wearing older clothes sometimes - makes you realize you made good purchases when you first bought them!

  6. So proud of you for sticking to your guns and not shopping! Sometimes I find a new way to wear something and I'm mad that I never even thought to.

  7. Thanks Franziska! I know, it's always good reinforcement when we can come up with good outfits from things we already have! :)

  8. Thanks so much Kelly! I totally agree - it's such good validation of prior purchases (and that we don't really need anything extra)!

  9. Thanks Jess! That's awesome that you had a denim vest hanging around - it's always the best when those things come back into style unexpectedly and you don't even have to bother getting a new version! :)

    1. Aw, thanks so much Fran! I actually blow-dried (blew dry?) it and curled it a little into some waves, which is actually pretty easy, so I should really stop being so lazy and do it more often! :)
