Wishlist Wednesday: Neons and Stripes

Hey, have you heard that neons were a big trend this spring?  I thought you might have.  At first I wasn't on board at all (too many bad 80s flashbacks for me), but this trend has gotten in my head a little.  I'm still not big on entire neon looks, especially because they are so very un-work-friendly, and especially not paired with black (Saved by the Bell alert!) but smaller pieces are much easier to work into a look.  I definitely wouldn't invest in anything major, but I did pick up one little neon accessory that I was excited to wear this week, and I was even more excited to pair it with my other favorite spring trend, pastels!  Since I'm not fully invested in the neon trend, I decided to pair this Wishlist Wednesday item with one of my absolute favorite styles that will always be in style - stripes.

I have no idea why the waist on my skirt gapped like that - it's really not that big!

I'm Wearing
Victoria's Secret white blazer (via MJR Sales) - $15 (similar, similar options at MJR sales)
(ps - just realized I was leaving the prices off my vacation outfit photos,
so I'll go back and edit those shortly)
H&M white striped short-sleeve t-shirt - $6
J. Crew neon pink chain link necklace - $11 (really similar, similar, similar)
Michael Kors rose gold watch - gift
Banana Republic pink pleated skirt - $4, thrifted
American Eagle leopard print flats - old, $10ish (similar)

The leopard flats were actually my husband's idea, although to be more specific, he actually suggested "some kind of animal print that has black in it."  Since I wore this skirt with snow-leopard heels last time, I decided to try the regular leopard in this look.  Plus my feet have been killing me lately, so I've been making it an all-flats week, so the pumps were out.  I think I kind of like these with this outfit!  Also, I know I've already talked about how much I love white blazers (see this blazer in other looks here, here, and in my guest post here), but let me just say it again: white blazers are the shit, especially in the warmer months when the thought of dark suit separates makes me sad.

How about you - are you/were you into neons this spring?  How would you wear neon for work?

  2. As I was checking out your pictures, I wasn't expecting those shoes, but I love them with this outfit! I'm so jealous of the deals you found on your blazer and skirt! There's an MJR about a half hour from my house...I've never been, but if they have deals that great, I'll have to make myself go!

    1. Thanks Jess - I thought the shoes were unexpected too but I ended up kind of liking it! Omg, I didn't even know MJR had a retail store! You should definitely go and tell me what it's like, haha! :) They always have Victoria's Secret blazers on the website, and I would definitely recommend it - it's machine washable too, which is amazing for a blazer. The skirt was a ridiculously lucky find at a NYC thrift store, of all places, and they were having 50% off skirts that day - best shopping trip ever!
