Neons for Work (EBEW)

I have to admit that I was completely unprepared for this month's Everybody, Everywear challenge because I have been like a chicken with my head cut off since returning from vacation.  Sadly, that means I wasn't able to come up with many neon-related puns like I did last time.  But just for good measure, here is literally the only joke I could come up with for this month's neon challenge: What did the chemist do when he cut his leg?  He put is neon the table so he could bandage it up.  Oh, har har, that was so funny I had to slap my neon that one!  Yikes.  Moving right along.

As I painfully mentioned, this month's challenge is neon, which I recently kind of started to appreciate even though it's not my favorite look of all time, probably because it's difficult to style it for work without looking like your "work" is of questionable legality.  I also love looking at blogger pics of neon maxi skirts flowing in the breeze, but that's not quite practical for my office, so I needed to come up with something a little more realistic.  I decided to go with a toned down neon peach top combined with a neon yellow belt paired with a healthy dose of standard navy to tone it all down.

Don't worry, I don't actually wear the shades at work (just at night...), but it was ridiculously bright out this morning.  Yes, this morning - I told you I was unprepared for this!

And because I also have a presentation today, I threw on a gray blazer while running out of the house.

I'm Wearing
J. Crew Factory neon-ish peach/pink ruffle neck top - $40
Michael Kors white watch - gift (and don't tell, but I realized that the battery is dead...
still going to wear it anyway)
The Limited neon yellow belt - old
J. Crew cafe trouser in navy - $20
J. Crew glitter cap toe flats - $20
Gap gray blazer - $22

Are you linking up with EBEW today?  Show me how you wear neons at work!

  1. A great way to do neon for work! I love the top, and the pop of yellow at the waist is fun.

  3. You and I are definitely on the same page with the neon trend --especially if you can wear it to work! And I agree, some of the neon looks just aren't that practical :) But I like how you styled your outfit!

  6. I was thinking about how the only way I would really know a way to participate in this month's EBEW is if I had fun neon belt...which I unfortunately do not own. This outfit makes me wish I did though - its super cute!

    1. Thanks Franziska! The best part about belts is how easily they can add something extra to an outfit for such a small investment - they're so cheap! :)

  9. I love this look! I think you are perfectly demonstrating how to look professional while still having fun with color. I like to push the color boundaries at work - mostly because I think everyone dresses boring and I like to have fun with my outfits.

    1. Thanks so much! I totally agree, there is so much blahness in so many of the typical outfits I see at work, so I like to try a little harder too!
