As I painfully mentioned, this month's challenge is neon, which I recently kind of started to appreciate even though it's not my favorite look of all time, probably because it's difficult to style it for work without looking like your "work" is of questionable legality. I also love looking at blogger pics of neon maxi skirts flowing in the breeze, but that's not quite practical for my office, so I needed to come up with something a little more realistic. I decided to go with a toned down neon peach top combined with a neon yellow belt paired with a healthy dose of standard navy to tone it all down.
Don't worry, I don't actually wear the shades at work (just at night...), but it was ridiculously bright out this morning. Yes, this morning - I told you I was unprepared for this!

I'm Wearing
J. Crew Factory neon-ish peach/pink ruffle neck top - $40
Michael Kors white watch - gift (and don't tell, but I realized that the battery is dead...
still going to wear it anyway)
The Limited neon yellow belt - old
J. Crew cafe trouser in navy - $20
J. Crew glitter cap toe flats - $20
Gap gray blazer - $22
Are you linking up with EBEW today? Show me how you wear neons at work!

A great way to do neon for work! I love the top, and the pop of yellow at the waist is fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne! :)
DeleteJust a touch is just enough, it's a great way to wear neon for work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hazel!
DeleteYou and I are definitely on the same page with the neon trend --especially if you can wear it to work! And I agree, some of the neon looks just aren't that practical :) But I like how you styled your outfit!

Thanks Heather! I love them too - they're one of my favorites, especially because I got such a great deal on them! :)
DeleteI was thinking about how the only way I would really know a way to participate in this month's EBEW is if I had fun neon belt...which I unfortunately do not own. This outfit makes me wish I did though - its super cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Franziska! The best part about belts is how easily they can add something extra to an outfit for such a small investment - they're so cheap! :)
DeletePretty shirt! I've been looking for a coral one to wear with my mint jeans!
ReplyDeleteThanks Peggy!
DeleteGreat look! I love the color combination and those shoes are too cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily! :)
DeleteI love this look! I think you are perfectly demonstrating how to look professional while still having fun with color. I like to push the color boundaries at work - mostly because I think everyone dresses boring and I like to have fun with my outfits.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I totally agree, there is so much blahness in so many of the typical outfits I see at work, so I like to try a little harder too!
DeleteLove your outfit! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Catherine! :)
