Wishlist Wednesday: Workin' 9 to 5

Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday.  Sometimes a girl just needs a day to catch up, you know?  I was intending to post the Sephora + Pantone pics I've been planning for ages, but of course I didn't get any good photos over the weekend.  I did, however, take some great photos last night, so those reviews will be up tomorrow, yay!

But back to today - it's Wishlist Wednesday again, and one of the most coveted items around this spring is the colorful blazer, which couldn't be more exciting for us working gals.  I wanted to remix this top I wore out the other night, so I did a work-friendly colorblocking situation with the addition of this bold blazer.

I'm Wearing
Thrifted cobalt blazer - $4
Banana Republic Factory orange colorblock top - $21 (similar)
J. Crew cafe trousers - $21
Michael Kors rose gold watch - gift
Kelly & Katie (via DSW) taupe pumps - gift (similar)
Nails: Zoya Rica & Zoya Harley on ring fingers

I love cobalt blue, so I was thrilled to find this blazer at Salvation Army for $4 even though it was a little big and the arms were a little too short - it was really hard to tell because the size was clearly from a different era, and I am terrible about trying stuff on in thrift stores.  Anyway, I fixed those issues pretty easily by pretending it's a fashion-forward, oversized, boyfriend-style blazer (it all depends on perspective, doesn't it?) and rolling up the sleeves.  In hindsight, I do think I could've used a nice pendant necklace with this to make it a bit more... something.  It just needs some... je ne sais quoi, n'est-ce pas?  I think I'm so used to many accessories that this feels a bit stark to me.

I have to admit that despite this great and extremely budget-friendly thrifted find, I'm still on the hunt for a blazer in another color.  I'm having a hell of a time deciding which way to go though.  Coral?  Green?  Yellow?  And let's not get started on how badly I'm aching for a striped version.  I've seen a few around but the one I'm really lusting for is way out of my price range (and apparently now sold out in S and M), but there's also this much more affordable one.  How about I just get all of them?  Sometimes a girl needs options that don't look like boardroom drudgery personified, amirite?  What do you think - are you into colored blazers this year?  What's your favorite way to wear them?

On another note - these pictures show the result of me trying "headband curls" for the first time last week - I think they turned out pretty great!  Thanks to Bri at Work Clothes, I Suppose for the idea!

    1. Thanks Heidi! I dress in work slacks a lot too and it's constantly a challenge for me to feel that they're not incredibly boring, so I'm glad to know others have the same issues!

  2. The hair looks so good!! And I'm so jealous of your thrifting find!! I never get that lucky, even though I constantly try. Love the orange with cobalt blue - I've been dying to wear my green blazer with some royal or hot pink, but maybe I should try it with my striped orange tee too!!

    1. Thanks Bri! I'm definitely going to do the hair again, it was super easy! Haha, no I totally have the same problem with thrifting - I almost never fnid anything good, I swear! I actually almost left without buying this blazer, but I figured at $4 even if it sucked it wouldn't be that big of a loss. You should definitely do your green blazer with all of those combos you suggested, I can't wait to see them! I need a green blazer too, I love those ideas!

    1. I know, I honestly can't believe it either - I almost never find anything worthwhile (that's actually worth the cost, anyway)! I think persistence and patience are key :)

  4. Your blazer was such a great find! I love the cobalt blue! Many of the jackets I've found at thrift stores have been a little short in the arms, so I always roll them a little bit too. :)
