Minty Monday

I finally dragged my husband outside with me to take some decent pictures of this outfit.  I think they're a pretty decent improvement, which unfortunately for my hubby means I'm going to be bogarting a lot more of his down time.  Thanks J :)

I wore this a week or so ago, back when it was actually still a little chilly out.  Now that the weather here has shot up to 90 degrees every day, this outfit looks positively miserable.  Ah well, it's nice to remember at least.  I realized that I almost never show my outerwear and bag in my pics, so I made it a point to get a few shots of those in this set too.  I always wear "commuting shoes" and then change at work because I take public transportation and I don't want to mess up my nice shoes.  Plus I have to walk about 6 blocks to/from my bus stops, which really isn't that easy, even in the comfiest of heels.  Anyway, here's what I look like on my way to work.

And underneath the jacket + new shoes =

I'm Wearing
Romeo & Juliet Couture black anorak (via Bluefly) - $50 (similarsimilar)
Tom's black glitter slip-ons - $54 (exact)
Aldo tan crossbody satchel - $40 (similar)
Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses (via Nordstrom) - $65 (similar)
J. Crew cafe capris - $49 (exact)
Calvin Klein blue gingham top - old
Talbots mint cableknit sweater - $20 (similar)
J. Crew bubble necklace in white (via Ebay) - $15
Guess silver boyfriend watch - gift (similar)
J. Crew teal and rhinestone stretch bracelet - $11 (similar color)
H&M pastel bangle set - $6 (couldn't find a similar set, but how pretty is this one?)
Talbots teal suede pumps - gift (exact)

Obviously I'm still loving pastels this season (see my obsession with mint here, and another all-pastel explosion in honor of Easter here), and I don't see an end in sight.  I'm also loving brights though, especially as we get closer to summer weather.  One of my favorite ways to include bright colors in my work-friendly outfits is with bright shoes.  I get so many compliments on these heels every time I wear them - I would highly recommend checking them out if you're in the market for something bright and colorful.

  1. Those shoes are gorgeous and the teal looks great against your white pants!

  2. TOMS as commuting shoes is so smart! I hate when I see people in ugly ratty tennis shoes...I just can't do it! But I ride the bus and walk a few blocks and do it in my heels, which I hate...so I'm definitely going to have to try it in my TOMS now! :)

    Great idea!

    1. Thanks Bri! Totally agree - I just can't do gross shoes and/or running shoes on the bus, it's too "working 9 to 5" 80s style for me! I'm so impressed that you can even walk the few blocks in your heels - I did it once with wedges and even those were killing me by the time I got home! Let me know how your TOMS work out! :) I also use flip flops sometimes in the summer, or obviously heavy boots/rainboots when the weather calls for it - I think a "commuting shoes" wardrobe is almost as important as a "nice shoes" collection!
