Saturday night we went to Prime 112 for dinner, which is a swanky steakhouse in South Beach. It was amazing, and I took the opportunity to wear a dress with no tights for the first time in months!
Dress: BCBG (via Nordstrom)
Earrings: Kohl's
Bracelets: Hive & Honey (via Piperlime)
Sequined clutch: Coach Factory
Wedges: Seychelles (via DSW)
I was going to crop this, but I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the sunny outdoors!
Close-up of the bag and bracelets. I think I mistakenly said these were from somewhere else in a previous post (which I edited to correct), but they were from Piperlime. Nail polish is Essie Topless & Barefoot (love this one).

Our view from the outdoor terrace - it was lovely
I mean seriously... Peanut butter chocolate s'mores with vanilla ice cream! How could we not???
Sunday we went to Versailles, this local diner that was supposed to have really good Cuban sandwiches. The atmosphere was... retiremement home chic. Definitely local. The sandwiches and plantains were really good though! Plus they had a little old guy dancing outside to his own boom box (missed my chance for a photo of that, sorry!), so that set the ambiance pretty perfectly.
Cuban! I love these, for real.
Sweet plantains.
But most importantly, I had to go to at least 1 location where they shot scenes for Dexter. Interestingly enough, I learned that they only filmed in Miami for the first 1/2 of season 1 and then filming moved almost entirely to L.A. However, I was able to find this gem (with a little help from this awesome site):
Recognize it? No? Maybe this will help:
That's me.
A little more familiar now? What if my body were drained of all its blood, severed into several parts, and packaged and tied up with string? Perhaps like this?
That's right, it's the location where Miami Metro and Dexter find the ice truck killer's second victim, and where Dexter ditches Rita in the middle of their date to go marvel over the absence of blood. This is actually called Pepper Park, and it's in downtown Miami in the middle of a recreational/park area - we had fun finding it (and pretending to me murdered prostitutes...)!
I also spotted this awesome bus stop poster - I used to collect these posters when I was younger because they have so many cool ones, but I've never seen this Miami one before!
I'm already missing the excitement of vacation and am feeling less-than-inspired by my current wardrobe choices and the limitations of the weather.. It's really not even that bad here (mid 30s mostly), but I'm sick of having to wear tights with my skirts (I'm suffering from severe crotch-asphyxiation, in Deb Morgan's terms), I'm sick of pants and sweaters, and--horror of horrors--I'm even sick of boots. I know, it's bad. How can I complain when I was fortunate enough to go to Miami for the weekend??? I don't know, but apparently I can.
