Dots and Colors

I'm actually feeling really creative today... just not in terms of blog post titles.  I'm more interested in colors at the moment.  Although we've had an unseasonably mild winter here in Chicago, it still sucks that most days are gray and cloudy like yesterday and today.  I'm craving some sunlight and color, so I paired a bright shirt with some fun pattern in my outfit yesterday.
Polka dot sweater: Old Navy (recent but seems to be gone online)
Pink button-down: Tommy Hilfiger
Lilac long-strand pearls: Macy's (old)
Watch: Guess (via Macy's)
Navy pinstripe pants (hard to see, but they're there!): Gap outlet
Shoes: Delicious (really old)

I also recently ordered a bunch of office supplies from See Jane Work and they arrived this week.  I actually squealed out loud when I opened the box and saw this:

My camera skillz can't do this justice, but it was like opening the Ark of the Covenant (and not, you know, having it melt my face off).  These bright and saturated babies just shone through right out of the box.  I imagine it looked like that scene in Pulp Fiction where Marsellus Wallace opens the briefcase and this light emanates from it (but tragically we never get to see what's in it!  Is it his soul?  Gold?  The real Ark of the Covenant???  I must know, Quentin Tarantino!).  I digress.  The point is, these office supplies totally made.my.day.

I tried to lighten up this pic a little to show how truly bright and colorful these are, but apparently I desparately need to take "Photoshop for Idiots" because I'm pretty sure I made it look worse.

Anyway, here's what I got:

(1) Semikolon file folders in pink and purple (I also got a set of black & beige, but they're backordered and on their way now, and rightly so - while they're also fabulous in a sophisticated way, they have no business being in the same box with Joseph's Amazing Technicolor DreamOfficeSupplies).  I'm also currently debating getting a set in "Irish Moss and Lime" green from Amazon... but how many file folders does one girl really need?  Can I compartmentalize my paperwork into that many categories?  I'm thinking... yes, I can.

(2) Kate Spade "The Long List" in yellow and "The Short List" in pink.  I love to-do lists in general, so I knew I would like these, but I seriously lovelovelove them.  They have pink and white (and yellow and white) striped and numbered note pages on the inside.  Makes a to do list that much more engaging, no?

(3) Jonathan Adler jet-setter 2012 wall calendar - this deserves its own post one day, it's that fab.  I hung it right at the top of a stairway so I see it every time I go upstairs, and it makes me smile every single day.  There are a few weird design elements that make it seem like they had a good idea for something and then forgot to follow through (for example, January and February both have apropros quotes on the month page, but the rest of the year doesn't, and Father's Day has a graphic on it but Mother's Day just has the words "Mother's Day."  weird...), but the calendar images are good enough to make up for it.  Plus it was marked down since it's already February, and I'm a sucker for a good deal.

(4) Semikolon sticky tabbed page-markers - not much to say about these except that they're awesome and make me want to take useless notes on everything!

(5) And finally, that little guy on the right is actually a gummy-bear shaped pencil topper eraser AND sharpener combo!  How cute is that?  I actually asked for green, but I still like it in red.

And just because I couldn't get enough of the inspiring colors, I added in my mini-Moleskine notebooks in the blue, purple, and pink sets (bought at Target awhile back) to this pic:

What has two thumbs, new office supplies, and is ready for spring?  I think you know.
