Learning Curve

Happy New Year!  I've been wanting to start a blog for awhile but never had the guts to do it because (a) I wasn't sure I'd have anything exciting or important to say, but mostly (b) I have no idea what I'm doing!  I'm sure the learning curve will be steep, but hey - it's 2012 (and thus probably the end of the world!), so I decided to throw caution to the wind.  In other words, I decided to stop thinking and start doing.

Without further ado, here is my first outfit post in all its faceless, un-edited, amateur glory.

Leopard scarf - The Limited
Blue & white striped tee - Gap
Gray cardigan - J Crew
Dark rinse jeans - Gap
Tan boots - Chinese Laundry

It's pretty representative of my safe/uniform style at the moment - dark jeans (they look black, but they're not), tan footwear, navy nautical stripes, cardigan, and some sort of statement-y neckwear.  I also have some bracelets and my usual watch on, but I forgot to push up my sleeves so you can't really see them.

I'm trying to break out of my comfort zone a bit this year.  I have lots of great clothes (thanks to many years of shopping and never throwing things away), but I tend to get lazy and wear a variation of this outfit far too often.  I also fall prey to the "I don't want to waste a great outfit if nothing happens/I don't go anywhere/I don't see anyone important today!" syndrome, so maybe regular posting of my outfits will help me break out of that rut.  I don't really make new year's resolutions, but I do make goals for my new year after my birthday.  One of my major goals this year (the last year of my twenties... I know, I'm practically a great-grandparent in the blogging world) is to wear everything in my closet, and I decided that the blog would really help me accomplish that.  Anyway, that's a lot of talking for one post, so off I go to plan some more outfits for posting!

So... happy 2012!
